Franklin County Sheriff Backs Szczepaniak for 2nd Berkshire Seat

DALTON, Mass. — Franklin County Sheriff Frederick B. Macdonald endorsed Tom Szczepaniak on Tuesday for the 2nd Berkshire District state representative seat being vacated by Rep. Denis E. Guyer.
Szczepaniak is running for the Democratic nomination in the representative race.
"Having met Tom numerous times along the campaign trail, I am impressed with his deep level of local government experience and how he has turned his life around," Macdonald said of the Dalton selectman.
Macdonald said that while Szczepaniak has acknowledged problems of alcohol abuse during his youth, his commitment to helping inmates at the Berkshire County House of Correction deal with recovery issues speaks to his compassionate and caring nature.
"Tom is a living model of how people can rehabilitate themselves after tough and trying times and become productive and contributing members of society. His ability to build a thriving small business and to top the ticket on Dalton's municipal ballots for selectman speak to the kind of drive and determination Tom has, qualities which will serve him well on Beacon Hill," Macdonald said.
"Tom's contributions to the mentoring program at BCHC and his willingness to hire ex-offenders and residents of Pittsfield’s homeless shelter for his business help reduce the rate of recidivism and ease the burden and costs on our law enforcement system."

geography, you sound like an angry republican, can you try a little harder to keep it positive. Remember what your mom taught you--if you don't have nothin' nice to say, then don't say nothin' at all.
Mr. Mark if you do become the winner of this race, I will be laughing as the republicans eat you up & spit you out! Stop making promises you can't keep to your bought and paid for unions, which by the way are all out of the district. All special interest groups that you will NEVER be able to hold up those promises you made to them on Beacon Hill.

Glad to see you backed off from trashing the firefighters though.
Yeah, because a retired state trooper is not going to "eat up and spit out" a man with felony charges in his history. Paul Mark has support from nurses, teachers, firefighters, electrical workers and so many more all of whom are in fact in this district.
MacDonald elaborated on Tom's work ethic, "I've never seen someone make license plates quite as fast as Tom, and when it came to neatness, nobody kept a cleaner cell than Tom, you could practically eat off of the group toilet."
I bet the willingness to hire excons and homeless is because he can pay them less than someone with a clean rap sheet. maybe he hires them to hearken back to his time in the slam as a convicted felon. or maybe they can only get jobs hauling garbage, just like Szscepaniak.
Regarding the posts making up quotes from Fred MacDonald... I would encourage everybody to keep it clean. There's a difference between mockery and questioning Szczepaniak's ability to do the job. There's a difference between anonymous, hurtful sniping and calling Tom out for being unqualified and less than truthful with voters.
Let's stick to the things that matter: ability to do the job, and what the candidates' political values are.
