Mark Earns Endorsement From Three Environmental Groups

SHELBURNE FALLS, Mass. – Paul Mark, the Democratic nominee for state representative in the 2nd Berkshire District, has received the endorsement of the state's three main environmental groups. Sierra Club Massachusetts, Mass Clean Water Action, and the Massachusetts League of Environmental Voters endorsed Mark this week.
"Paul is committed to reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, promoting renewable energy resources and growing our local economy by doing so," said Phil Sego, political chairman of the Mass Sierra Club. "This district is already leading the way and, with Paul's help, will continue to do so."
"Paul has made the preservation of the natural beauty of the district one of his top priorities, and supports smart investments in the clean-energy jobs which are critical to our recovering economy," said Lora Wondolowski, Massachusetts League of Environmental Voters' executive director. "We look forward to working with Paul in the State House during the next legislative session."
"Clean Water Action was impressed both by Paul's broad support in the district and his commitment to protecting our environment and our health in Massachusetts," said Jeff Knudsen, political director for Massachusetts Clean Water Action. "We believe that Paul Mark is the clear environmental choice in this race."
Clean Water Action boasts 80,000 members in Massachusetts, and Sierra Club has a membership base numbering 26,000. MLEV is not a membership organization, but rather works largely through broad voter contact on important environmental issues.
"These powerful endorsements are a signal of my commitment to environmental stewardship," Mark said upon receiving the endorsements. "I couldn't be happier to have the support of all three groups."
The groups are co-hosting an Environmental Champion dinner for Mark after the election.

The 2nd Berkshire District includes part of Pittsfield and 21 towns in Berkshire, Franklin and Hampshire Counties.

Mark supports Deval Patrick's plan to gut local control in siting wind power, something that Rep. Guyer has led the fight to stop cold. Mark supports construction of utility-scale biomass power plants because his financial backers in the building trades tell him to, or else they will not cut any more PAC checks. Mark supports expansion of casino gaming because the unions say so. Mark is a green fraud.
None of those statement are true. How do you just post the complete opposite of his positions on every subject? You people ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
Paul Mark has said over and over that he opposes the wind siting reform act and would support Guyer's amendment that towns get to take a voter referendum on allowing wind projects. That's why he had the support of 66% of Ashfield voters in a three-way primary race.
From the Mark website: "I oppose large, inefficient biomass plants because of extreme amounts of pollution involved in burning mass quantities of wood and debris."

Mark is a sleazeball and Boston is full of them. We do not need to send another. He only made it past the primaries because of his character assassination success.
You are a sleazeball without the guts to actually identify yourself. If you had half the guts of any of the candidates you wouldn't be hiding behind a computer posting bile.
If you've watched the campaign since the primary it is very clear that Paul Mark is the only candidate who does not attack his opponents. The other two take every chance to try to bring this hardworking guy down. Politics is very dirty and people aren't blind. Stop trying to turn people off so that people stay home and lousy republicans slip through the polls nationwide.
Tom Szczepaniak did a pretty good job assassinating his own character over the past twenty-five years. Paul Mark didn't need to do anything to add to Szczepaniak's lack of character.
Actually, Paul made it past the primary because he worked hard in every single town. Leave no community behind! That's the kind of Representative Paul would be!
