Adams Town Clerk Haley A. Meczywor advises town residents who are not registered to vote to do so soon. The deadline to register to vote is 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17.
The Adams Town Election is scheduled for Monday, May 7.
Citizens may register at any time at the Town Clerk's office in Town Hall Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., and many other public agencies including the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Meczywor advises people who sign up at the Registry to bring the receipt with them to the polls. Residents may encounter problems on Election Day because Registry data is often not transmitted to Town Hall.
The Town Clerk announces that the Board of Registrars will be at her Town Hall office until 8 p.m. on the final day to register.
In order to register to vote a person must be 18 years old by election day, an Adams resident, and a United States citizen.
Voter registration in Massachusetts is permanent. You do not have to re-register again unless you move to a new community, change your name or did not answer the annual town census.
Meczywor notes that balloting will take place at the Adams Department of Public Works garage at 92 North Summer St. The polls will be open on May 7 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
