Steinman Leads Teddy's Pizza to Giorgi League Win

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Hollie Steinman scored 19 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked a shot to lead Teddy's Pizza to a 43-34 win over Tony's Electric/Flynn & Dagnoli on Tuesday night in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League.
 
Kim Conant scored eight points and had seven boards for the victors.
 
For Tony's, Courtney McLaughlin scored a team-high 15, and Courtney Kegresse scored eight with four rebounds.
 
In Tuesday's first game, Emily Rosse scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked two shots to lead Williamstown Physical Therapy to a 64-41 win over the Lady Patriots.
 
Megan Vaughn and Alia Curry each scored 13 for WPT.
 
The Patriots were led by Brianna Legacy with 14 points and Kayla Whitman with eight.
     

Moonlight Comeback Falls Short in Giorgi League

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Paul Maurice scored 20 points, and MCLA held off a furious comeback by Moonlight Diner to take a 64-54 win in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League on Monday evening.
 
MCLA led 39-16 at half-time, but Moonlight got within one point, 54-53, before MCLA closed with a 10-1 run.
 
Maurice grabbed 11 boards and blocked two shots, and Ruben Delrosario and Koreen Kirsey scored 16 and 15, respectively, for the TrailBlazers.
 
For Moonlight, Geoff Knodel scored 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and Noah Snyder scored nine points with five boards.
 
In Tuesday's nightcap, Ty Rochester scored 23 points to lead Moresi and Associates to a 62-58 win over Bloom Property Management.
 
Rochester had eight rebounds, and Ray Viches scored 15 points for the winners.
 
Kevin Carpenter scored 16 points for Bloom, which got 12 from Tyler Benoit.
     

Maselli Leads Pete's to Two-Point Win

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Tim Maselli scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Pete's Gun Shop/Maselli & Field to a 36-34 win over BFAIR/North Adams Law in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League on Sunday evening.
 
Joe Vareschi scored nine points, pulled down seven rebounds and blocked a couple of shots for the winners.
 
For BFAIR, Ryan Flanagan scored 10 points and blocked two shots, and Nate Gutman scored nine.
 
Brad Shove scored 25 points and Lawrence Carrier had 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead Dagnoli to a 72-67 win over the Runnin' Rebels. Ryan mayer chipped in with 10 points for the winners.
 
Pat Kennedy scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Central Radio, which picked up a 61-55 win over Key West.
Travis Severs also scored 13, and Kyle Callahan had a team-high 18 for Central Radio.
 
Game-high honors went to Key West's David Vidal with 32 points to go along with eight rebounds.
     

Williamstown Cal Ripken All-Stars Win District

LEE, Mass. — Derek Paris pitched 4-1/3 innings of two-run relief to lead the Williamstown Cal Ripken 10-and-under all-stars to a 7-4 win over Lee that clinched the district championship on Friday evening.
 
Williamstown swept a best-of-three series with wins on Thursday and Friday.
 
Both Williamstown and Lee move on to the state tournament in Sutton, July 5-8.
 
On Friday, Paris took over with the bases loaded and two out in the second and got his man to pop up to the mound. He went the rest of the way, striking out six and allowing three hits, three walks and one earned run.
 
Oscar Lowe went 3-for-3 with a run scored for Williamstown. Landen Jamula was 2-for-3 and scored twice.
 
For Lee, Daniel Munch was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Roberto Barron walked twice and scored. Panayiotis Canstantopolous took the loss on the hill, striking out eight and giving up four runs in three innings of work.
 
In Thursday's series opener on Bud Anderson Field in Williamstown, Jamula pitched five innings to lead the home team to a 10-0 win.
 
He also went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a three-run homer while Lowe went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
 
Munch went 1-for-2 and struck out two in three innings of work on the mound in the series opener.
     

Mount Anthony Scores Dramatic Giorgi League Win

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mount Anthony Union High School's Hunter Davis hit a buzzer-beater to give the Patriots a 53-52 win over Drury in a high school division game of the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League on Thursday night.
 
Mount Anthony (1-0) inbounded the ball at half court with just more than two seconds left in game that saw the Pats of Bennington, Vt., come back from a 25-19 half-time deficit and take a lead, only to fall behind late, setting up Davis' heroics.
 
Davis scored six points with two rebounds. Ty Champagne led Mount Anthony with 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. Damon Burgess scored 13 for the Pats.
 
Alex Heck scored 22 points with four rebounds to lead Drury (0-1), which got six points and eight rebounds from Justice Marable.
 
In Thursday's other scheduled high school division game, Burr & Burton of Manchester, Vt., was leading its league debut, 48-47, against the Running Rebels when the the Rebels forfeited the game.
 
The Bulldogs' Joey Shehadi had 27 points and two rebounds, and Taylor Muench had seven points when play was suspended.
 
In Thursday's nightcap, Pete's Gun Shop/Maselli & Field defeated Mingo's/Greylock Bowl and Golf, 50-23.
 
Tim maselli scored 11 points, and Mike Decker and Joe Vareschi each had nine for the winners. Bob Malloy scored six points and grabbed six rebounds for Mingo's.
