Driver Suffers 'Traumatic' Injuries in Pittsfield Crash With Tractor Trailer
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A collision between a pick-up truck and a tractor-trailer caused "traumatic" injuries to one driver.
Deputy Fire Chief Daniel Garner said firefighters from both Pittsfield and Dalton had to extricate the driver of a Toyota Tacoma Wednesday morning after the collision at the intersection of East Street and Hubbard Avenue.
"Upon arrival we found a two-vehicle collision had occurred with the operator of a light duty pick-up still entrapped in his vehicle. Pittsfield Fire, assisted by Dalton Fire, worked together and successfully extricated the driver from the vehicle," Garner wrote in a report issued Wednesday morning.
"It is early in the investigation but it is believed the driver sustained non-life threatening injuries."
The driver of the tractor-trailer appeared uninjured and refused treatment, the deputy chief wrote.
The accident occurred around 7:11 a.m. and the intersection, which is a four-way signalized intersection with East, Hubbard, Dalton Division and Dalton's South Street. Pittsfield Police issued a Facebook notification at 7:20 a.m. asking residents to avoid the area while Police, Fire, and EMS attended to the scene.
