GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — NBT Bank has delivered a contribution of $75,000 to CHP Berkshires.

During a visit to CHP on Oct. 30, Andreas Kapetanopoulos, NBT Connecticut regional president, Amanda Goewey, VP, multi-site branch manager, and Aidan Gilligan, VP, commercial banking/relationship manager met with CHP leadership to underscore the bank's commitment to local organizations serving the Berkshire community.

"We are so grateful to NBT bank for this generous gift, which will make a significant impact on CHP's dental expansion and other essential services in the Berkshires," said Carrie Barth, CHP senior director of grants and philanthropy.

Kapetanopoulos urged CHP to direct the funds to programs that will make the most impact in serving more than 30,000 Berkshire region residents. Much of which will help support CHP's growing dental care services in the Berkshires, and other initiatives.

"This is a significant business alliance for us, and a mark of impressive community leadership by NBT," said Bethany Kieley, CHP's chief executive officer. "We are fortunate indeed to receive such an impactful gift, and our patients and clients will benefit."

State Closes Brookside Road Bridge

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.— Brookside Road bridge was closed today following a routine inspection by the MA Department of Transportation.

Town Public Works Superintendent Joe Aberdale said the DOT inspection report now requires further state review and that there is no information yet on a timeline for reopening. Brookside Road is located south of town and runs east to Brush Hill Road and Boardman Street.

Aberdale said load limits on the older, trestle bridge have been disregarded for some years by heavy vehicles. He said that usage has likely taken a toll on the span over the Housatonic River.

Southbound drivers heading to Brush Hill and the north end of Boardman Street will need to travel further south on Route 7 to Kellogg Road and then onto Boardman Street, heading north.

"We will keep residents informed as we learn more from the state DOT," said Aberdale.
