Music starts early in the museum courtyards, moves to our spacious (and grassy!) urban concert meadow, and then continues until past your bedtime with wild and woolly late-night barn dances in the Hunter Center on Friday and Saturday nights. The lineup is jam-packed with guitar gods and banjo gurus, traditionalists and trailblazers — artists you already know and love interspersed with FreshGrass discoveries. Taken together, it’s an expansive group of performers who both draw on the past and look to the future. We like to think of it as “great music uprooted.”

Presented as part of Downstreet Art 2017, TRUST is an invitation for both performer and audience to, as Vulnerability Researcher Brene Brown puts it, “lean into the discomfort of vulnerability” and embrace “experiences that are wrought with uncertainty: love, belonging, trust, joy and creativity.”
Our guides for the weekend are three performers Ana Mendez (Miami, FL), T L Ford (Portland, OR) and Benjamin Lundberg/Sanchez-Torres (Providence, RI) – each bringing their own understanding of vulnerability to their work. They will perform in locations across downtown North Adams, from parks and alleys to buses and park benches – inviting the audience to be present, to lean into any discomfort and to engage in open and caring dialogue around the experience. |

The market is located in the St. Anthony Municipal Parking Lot, at the intersection of Rte. 8 (Marshall St.) and St. Anthony Drive.
We proudly accept SNAP/EBT, credit cards, debit cards, WIC & Senior Coupons. The North Adams Farmers Market believes that eating healthy is a cornerstone of a healthy community and healthy local food should be accessible to everyone. Our SNAPx2 Program provides matching funds to double every SNAP/EBT benefits spent at the market. In 2015, the SNAPx2 Program resulted in over $10,000 worth of fresh local food in the homes of low income families in our community.
The Farmers Market is sponsored by Greylock Federal Credit Union, Berkshire Health Systems, Adams Community Bank, MountainOne, Mass in Motion, the City of North Adams, and the Farmers Market Coalition.
Patrons of the market can find fresh fruits and vegetables, greens, canned goods, baked goods, eggs, flowers, and meat. People can also enjoy music, entertainment, and info booths, all of which change week to week.
All of the food at the market is grown or made by the farmers themselves. This year’s market includes vendors reaching from Berlin, New York and Southern VT all the way to Washington, Mass. Farmers include: Morin Gardens, Jaeschke’s Orchard, Many Forks Farm, Mark Smigel, Square Roots Farm, Mountain Girl Farm, Clarksburg Bread Co., North Yeast Bakery, Gray Raven Farm and more. Other farmers will join the market with specialty items at different points throughout the growing season. |

Join us for the first ever Gray Comma reading and open mic, featuring local poet and black belt, Lisken Van Pelt Dus!
Lisken Van Pelt Dus was raised internationally – in England, the US, and Mexico –and now lives in Pittsfield. After coming from London to Williams College to earn a BA in Religion, she later earned a Masters from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in Comparative Literature. She also holds an eighth degree black belt in classical Okinawan karate and a third degree black belt in Okinawan kobudo (weapons). She now teaches writing and languages Monument Mountain Regional High School in Great Barrington, and martial arts at Elm Street Martial Arts in Pittsfield, which she co-owns with her husband Bob.
Her poetry can be found in such journals as Conduit, The South Carolina Review, and upstreet, and has earned awards from Cider Press Review, Atlanta Review, and others. Her chapbook, Everywhere at Once, was published by Pudding House Press in 2009. What We’re Made Of (published by Cherry Grove in 2016) was her first full-length collection.

This is a fundraiser in North Adams hosted by Christopher Hantman - Writer/Performer to benefit the Elizabeth Freeman Center. ALL proceeds will be contributed to the fundraising efforts for their annual Walk a Mile 2017! that supports victims of domestic and sexual abuse of all genders.
This will be lead by Leah Hantman of Worcester City #SportsBraSquad. Leah is a certified strength and conditioning coach with a background in martial arts and boxing. She has been teaching boxing/kickboxing for 8 years with an emphasis on self-defense.
