Support Your Local Farmers

Delicious local produce and a lot of other home-grown items you won't believe will be featured at the North Adams Farmers Market in the Municipal Parking Lot across from the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art on Saturday, July 31 and Saturday, Aug. 7 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Ending With a Bang

The Bang on a Can Marathon 2010 will wrap up a great summer music residency of a talented bunch of teachers students and others, on Saturday, July 31, at 4 p.m. at the Hunter Center. Call 413-662-2111 or click here for more information.

At the Park

Western Gateway Heritage State Park Visitors Museum is hosting several programs this Friday and Saturday, July 30 and 31:

 

Friday at 11 a.m., meet in front of the Visitors Museum and bring a lunch and blanket for a picnic reading of tree theme books – for all ages.

 

On Friday at 1 p.m., the family presentation of "Johnny Appleseed" will introduce you to the legendary man via readings and shadow theatre.

 

On Friday at 7:30 p.m., at the pond in Clarksburg State Park, there will be a campfire gathering that will take us back to ancient times, when humans first looked up and wondered about it all.

 

On Saturday at 10:30 a.m., Jerry Schneider presents the nature program "Butterflies: Habits and Habitats."

 

On Saturday at 2 p.m., learn about bears, creatures that have fascinated humans around the world and are revered by many cultures. This illustrated lecture takes a global tour of bears from New England to the Far East and even in the stars. Call 413-663-6312 or click here for more information.


In the Garden
Houghton Community Garden will host a community potluck picnic at the Houghton Garden site on Saturday, July 31 from noon to 3 p.m. This is a free event where members of the community are invited to bring a dish, meet their neighbors, and visit the garden. The Other Half
According to Aristophanes, humans were once double-sided creatures before Zeus cleaved man in two and left him forever struggling to be whole again. Leonard Nimoy unveils a photographic exhibition to reveal his subjects' other half. Shot in nearby Northampton, the series will be exhibited at MASS MoCA beginning Saturday, July 31. Auditions

The Minerva Arts Center is proud to announce auditions for "ALIZA," a musical theater piece written by and starring Los Angeles-based artist Ali Mandelbaum. Free Concert
On Wednesday, Aug. 4, the city of North Adams Presents the last of the summer "Concerts at the Lake" featuring the Jill Gallagher Band. The free concert begins at 7 p.m. at Windsor Lake.

 
Party in the Park
On Thursday, Aug. 5, Whisky City helps WNAW and the city of North Adams kick off "Party in the Park" at the Noel Field Athletic Complex from 6 to 8 p.m. Click here for more information.
