Editor: You mean like Victoria's Secret or the old Sears Catalog?
Just out of curiosity, why does the "Editor" of I-Berkshires engage and respond to peoples commentary in the "Your Comments" segment of the stories? Is I-Berkshires not a free an unbiased media outlet? With the editor commenting, it certainly raises the question as to the objectivity of the articles and what's actually printed.
With that said, I would like to clarify to all readers it only raises an eyebrow, I have no evidence that would suggest I-Berkshires is slanted one way or the other, I just find it interesting how many times the "Editor" makes a reply to a posters standpoint, something we don't see in The Transcript, The Berkshire Eagle, Boston Globe, New York Times or CNN. Just an observation.
Editor: We're not like other news sources. We're a community website that encourages the community to engage. We're new media, not old and a lot of sites like ours do respond to comments. Why wouldn't we?
Maybe I have more information that wasn't in the story or I can point readers to other sources. Maybe posters are getting to rowdy and I have to put my 'Mom' hat on. Maybe I can give posters food for thought, like how live models in person compare to live models on TV or in catalogs. When I give an opinion, I state that it is. I do have opinions; all journalists do because we're people, too. But we try very hard to provide balance to everything we do.
In fairness however, great credit must be given to I-Berkshires for reviewing commentary BEFORE its printed. This would easily eliminate libel, unnecessary vile that is generally spewed in the local Topix forums. For that I-Berkshires, I commend you!!

Let's talk about the story for a minute. It's great to see such creative & entrepreneurial energy in our midst. May Bra & Girl achieve much success. This is the kind of approach that will make going to Great Barrington a draw. The other night, my husband and kids and I drove up to GB (from the NW corner of CT), tried to eat at Baba Louies (but it was too busy for our kids to wait--when do you see that down here in CT?), ended up at the Mexican restaurant Xicohtencati(again a long wait so we had a fun & delicious meal sitting at the bar, drove back into the center of town for ice cream at Soco and walked around. We stumbled upon unbelievably creative music in the alley way -- Bella's Bartok, then looked for stores that were open.Looked at the collection of good at Church Street Trading, walked into Bra & Girl, where our girls played with the sweetest dog they'd ever met and we chatted with the owners. I saw a pair of pajamas that I told my husband I wanted for Christmas. After we left, we said (literally), "That was such a fun night, we have to come up to Great Barrington more often"! So...well done GB. A note to other store owners-- stay open late in the summer...you may not make a sale that night, but you'll get customers in the door who will come back and you'd be surprised how many of them aren't just tourist passing through.
Pittsfield ConCom OKs Weed Treatment for Pontoosuc

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Pontoosuc Lake will be treated for weeds with a contact herbicide on Thursday, June 17.
Last week, the Conservation Commission OK'd a request for Diquat treatment on 53 acres of the lake.
"We have four non-native and invasive species, three of which we are controlling with the use of herbicides, and if we didn't do that control, the weeds would take over the lake and the shore," explained Lee Hauge, president of the Friends of Pontoosuc Lake and Lanesborough's harbormaster.
"All the shorelines would be unusable for swimming and even fishing, and you'd only have the center half of the lake, where you could do any boating or swimming if you could get out there."
Pittsfield and Lanesborough equally share the management of the lake and associated costs.
Hauge explained that underwater weeds were harvested for almost 20 years, and it was successful in making the lake accessible for swimming and boating, though over the years, he said, the process favored the propagation of Eurasian milfoil, which spreads by fragmentation.
"And so the result of that 20 years of harvesting control was the lake being choked by Eurasian milfoil, and the native desirable weeds were choked out of being able to grow because of the proliferation of the milfoil," he said.
The application is for 53 acres, and Pontoosuc will need to be treated again in August. This will require permission from the ConCom.
