“Christmas Catechism is a nostalgic hoot!” –Springfield News-Sun

It's “Forensic Files goes to Bethlehem” in this holiday mystery extravaganza, by the author of Late Nite Catchism and Late Nite Catechism 2, as Sister takes on the mystery that has intrigued historians throughout the ages—whatever happened to the Magi's gold? (We know that Mary used the frankincense and myrrh as a sort of potpourri—they were in a barn after all.) Retelling the story of the nativity, as only Sister can, this hilarious holiday production is bound to become a yearly classic. Employing her own scientific tools, assisted by a local choir as well as a gaggle of audience members, Sister creates a living nativity unlike any you've ever seen. With gifts galore and bundles of laughs, Sister’s Christmas Catechism is sure to become the newest addition to your holiday traditions.

The Colonial will again partner with the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield to raise funds during the run of Sister’s Christmas Catechism. In February of 2008, the Colonial presented Late Nite Catechism and raised $4,012.14 for the Sisters of St. Joseph. To date, the Late Nite Catechism franchise has collected over two million dollars for retired Sisters.

Mary Verdi will be leading the audience in a pre-show sing-along to holiday favorites and will accompany herself on piano and guitar.

Multiple Departments Respond to Lanesborough Structure Fire

By Brittany PolitoiBerkshires Staff

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire off Narragansett Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.

The Fire Department received a call from the owner of 6 Bangor St. reporting a smoke and flames at around 1:44 p.m.

Firefighters arriving on scene reported heavy smoke emanating from the the 1940s single-family ranch home in the thickly settle neighborhood.

The blaze was brought under control in less than an hour and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

"The homeowner was outside doing some work, evidently, opened the door when she came back in the house, and there were flames and smoke, so she backed out and called us, and that's all we know right now," Deputy Fire Chief Glen Storie said around 2:35 p.m.

The fire was out at that time, and first responders observed "quite a bit of damage" to the home. The cause is still under investigation.

Lanesborough, Cheshire, and Pittsfield departments responded to the scene, and Hancock covered the station during the call.

"The first crew in knocked the fire right down with the first engine," Storie said.

Smoke could be seen coming from the back of the home. Part of Narragansett Avenue and Bangor Avenue were blocked off while firefighters battled the blaze.
