Mammography Dispute
The government's issued controversial new guidelines stating that women shouldn't get annual mammograms until age 50, rather than age 40.

Friday: Bossa Triba dance party @ Jae's Spice!

The Berkshire Bateria's samba band Bossa Triba plays Jae’s Spice Friday night, and the dance floor will be hopping!  The Berkshire Bateria Escola De Samba features a number of talented performers that include drummers, dancers, singers and melodic instrumentalists. The group performs a wide variety of music from Brazil, including hot samba rhythms and cool bossa nova jazz.

And Monday evening, the Pioneer Valley-based Valleywood brings its FILM TECH program featuring a salute to Berkshire animator Eugene Mamut.

If you were at the Friday night installment of WordXWord in August you were treated to a way-too-short set by Texas fiddle sensation Amanda Shires and Rod Picott.  We made her promise, on the spot, she'd come right back for a full set, and she has.  Monday night, Luke Doucet performs.  Luke is a master of stories because he knows all the good ones like the back of his hand. Between pen and paper, nylon or steel strings, it will be written, remembered, repeated. And it will sound better than anything you've ever heard.

Don't miss the Berkshire Athenaeum’s fall book sale featuring over 25,000 hardcover and paperback books. Friday-Sunday: Live and Let's Give Art Sale

A group of exceptional artists, including Dai Ban, Crispina ffrench, Huck DelSignore, Minc House, Joan Ciolfi & many more from the Berkshires and beyond gather at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts this weekend to create a beautiful and eclectic shopping experience for the community, with the added goal of raising funds for Charley’s Fund, a non-profit organization funding research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Friday evening's preview reception is $25, with all funds going to Charley's Fund. Admission is free the rest of the weekend. Not to be missed!

Saturday: A Tribute to Patsy Cline!

Sherrill Douglas stars in a musical tribute to legendary singer Patsy Cline at the ITAM Lodge. Crazy 'Bout Patsy starring Sherrill Douglas has been called "the best Patsy Cline musical revue in the land." Douglas performs all of Cline's greatest hits and then some in a revue that has garnered rave reviews nationwide. Her four octave vocal range has astonished many an audience and her performance has been known to go from poignant love song to all out hoe down.

The Oldies But Goodies Rock ‘N Roll Show presents Holiday Cheers Saturday night at First Methodist will benefit the United Cerebral Palsy of Berkshire County.  Sunday, Mary Verdi celebrates the release of her new album with a terrific show!  Mary has written songs depicting the different faces of love that surround us.  The performance features Ben Kohn, Bobby Sweet, Dave Christopolis, Dale Monette, Joe Meo and The St. Agnes Adult Folk Choir and introducing the Pittsfield Pipsqueakers.

Thursday: Taconic High School’s The Tragedy of Macbeth

The Fall Festival of Shakespeare is the longest running of Shakespeare & Company’s Education Programs, which have reached nearly one million students since 1978 with innovative performances, workshops, and residencies.  They help bring Shakespeare alive and into the lives of as many students and teachers as possible through the active exploration and performance of Shakespeare’s plays, including this student performance of Macbeth at Taconic High School!
