Singer/Songwriter performs live at the Topia Arts Center09:22AM / Monday, October 19, 2009
ADAMS, Mass. - Namoli Brennet, a singer/songwriter from Tucson, will perform this Friday, October 23 at the Stone Soup Café at Topia Arts Center, 27 Park Street, at 9 PM.
Presented by the Topia Arts Center and Dana Bixby, the performance will begin at 9 PM, with a cover charge of $10. A portion of the proceeds will be contributed to the Topia Arts center.
Namoli Brennet has previously performed in the Berkshires at Mixed Company, Dreamaway Lodge, and the Berkshire Stonewall Festival.
Namoli has just released a new CD “Until form this Dream I Awake.” She has played hundreds of performances and independently produced and released seven CDs on her own label since 2002. Listening to Brennet, you realize she is not just another acoustic singer/songwriter with a guitar. Her technique draws on a wide range of influences, everyone from Shawn Colvin and Jonatha Brooke to Patty Griffin and Joni Mitchell. Her achingly wistful arrangements include guitar, mandolin, harmonica and even trumpets, all self-played and complemented by her personal, heartfelt, lyrics.
In addition to her songwriting, Brennet has also written several commissions for Chorus & Piano as well as scoring 2 plays: Boy (2008), and an adaptation of The Odyssey written by Pulitzer-Prize winner Derek Walcott. Her music has also been featured in the upcoming documentary Out in the Silence. She is an Out Music Award nominee.
Topia Arts Center is a new arts and education center in development in Adams presenting quality music, theater, dance, film and educational programming. |
