Hello Autumn!


The Fall Foliage Festival begins with a Leaf Hunt, Farmers Market, Bedrace, Children's Road Race and Fair.

 

 

Bascom Lodge

At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Bascom Lodge atop Mount Greylock, the North Adams Garden Club presents a talk about the importance and use of native plant species in home gardens and in restoring damaged habitats. Free and open to the public; call 413-743-1591.

 

Co-Op Gallery

The final DownStreet Art Thursday of the season includes a full schedule of gallery openings and special events on September 24 from 6 - 9 pm on Main, Holden and Eagle Streets. "Out of the Box" will be held at the North Adams Artists Co-Operative Gallery at 33 Main with an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m., held concurrently with all other DownStreet activities.

 

Kinescope Dance

The Refractive Kinescope by Boston-based Kinodance Company culminates with three multimedia dance performances at MCLA Gallery 51 Annex, also on Sept. 24 at 6,7 and 8 p.m. Call 413-664-8718 for information. 

  


Drury 1952 Reunion

Drury High School class of 1952 is holding a luncheon reunion on Saturday, Sept. 26, at noon at Taylor's Restaurant, 34 Holden St. Letters have gone out to members. If you haven't received one, call Shirley Davis at 413-663-5516.

 

Benefit for Moon

A benefit roast beef dinner for Tammy Moon, who has been stricken with breast cancer, will be held Saturday, September 26, from 4-8 pm at the North Adams American Legion. It will be catered by Dave Lewis. Cost is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and children under 12 years of age. Tickets are available at the door or call 413-664-6617.

 

History on Stage

On Saturday, Sept. 26, the Redroom, Main Street Stage's popular cabaret series will take on American history. Doors open at 8 p.m. for life drawing and light refreshment. Contact Kelli at 413-664-7745 for more information.

 

Clydesdales Arriving

The Budweiser Clydesdales will appear in the Oct. 4 Fall Foliage Parade. They will arrive in North Adams on Monday, Sept. 28, and will be guests in the Mass MoCA parking lot for the week. The horses will be available for public viewing Tuesday through Thursday from 9 to 6 p.m., Friday from 9 to 3 and Saturday from 9 to 6 p.m.

 

Children's Parade 

Calling all children, from infants through eighth graders — join the Children's Parade on Friday, Oct. 2, beginning with registration at 5 p.m., held at the corner of Main and Eagle Street. The theme is "Taste of the Berkshires." Information: 413-664-6180.

 

Festival Continues

Among the multitude of events scheduled for the Fall Foliage Festival, the annual Autumn Arts and Crafts Fair and ROPES Family Day promise to draw crowds to the city’s downtown on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 to 4 p.m.

  

Submissions to the North Adams EZine must be received by 4 p.m. Monday to be considered for inclusion in that week's issue and are subject to edit. EZine is published by the Mayor's Office of Tourism. All types of artistic, cultural, historical or recreational events happening in the greater North Adams area will be considered for publication. Mystic, Conn., Rolls Past SteepleCats

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Camden Righi went 3-for-5 with a double Tuesday to lead the Mystic Schooners (5-1) to a 12-2 win over the North Adams SteepleCats in New England Collegiate Baseball action at Joe Wolfe Field.
 
Parker Camelo was 2-for-3 at the plate for North Adams, which scored both its runs in the bottom of the ninth.
 
North Adams used six pitchers in the loss. James Morr and Joe LaPrade each provided an inning of no-hit relief.
 
The SteepleCats (0-3) are at Martha's Vineyard on Wednesday night.
