NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Berkshire Family And Individual Resources Inc. has been awarded for the second consecutive time a two-year license with "distinction" from the state Department of Developmental Services, following a survey and review.

The license with distinction means that the agency has joined the elite group of vendor agencies that provide outstanding services in all areas to people with developmental disabilities.

The Department of Developmental Services stated in its report that "BFAIR is commended for its sustained commitment to actualizing an organizational culture that highly values individuals supported. This has resulted in a consumer driven organization that effectively safeguard individuals' rights, health, safety and security across employment and residential settings."

A member agency of the Northern Berkshire United Way, BFAIR is an established provider of support services for adults, adolescents and children with developmental disabilities, autism, and traumatic brain injury. Supports include Arcadia Employment Services, a Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities-accredited day-habilitation center, clinical services, community residential services and individual and family resources.
