Test your airplane design during National Aviation Day celebration

PITTSFIELD, Mass. - The public is invited to EPOCH Assisted Living at Melbourne’s National Aviation Day celebration on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 3 p.m. Festivities will include paper airplane folding followed by flight tests from EPOCH’s deck. EPOCH is located at 140 Melbourne Road.

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt created National Aviation Day through a presidential proclamation in 1939 to celebrate the United States’ progress in military, commercial and private aviation. National Aviation Day is observed on Orville Wright’s birthday (Aug. 19, 1871) because he piloted the first official flight in Kitty Hawk, N.C., on Dec. 17, 1903.

‘The Life and Music of Tony Bennett’ presentation at EPOCH

PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Retired disc jockey Dick Partridge will present “The Life and Music of Tony Bennett” on Friday, Aug. 21, at 3 p.m. at EPOCH Assisted Living at Melbourne. Partridge, a former disc jockey brings this icon of American music to life as he weaves biographical sketches in between sets of recorded music from Bennett. EPOCH is located at 140 Melbourne Road. PITTSFIELD, Mass. - The public is invited to EPOCH Assisted Living at Melbourne’s community carnival on Sunday, Aug. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. All are welcome to come for food, fun and games. A donation of $5 to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association is suggested. Don’t miss the chance to send staff members plunging into icy water at the dunk tank. EPOCH is located at 140 Melbourne Road.
