Thursdays Downtown

DownStreet Art hosts another Fourth Thursday on July 30 with free events, galleries and businesses staying open late.


Lake Music

The free Concert at the Lake Series continues at 7 pm on Wednesday, July 29 as members of the Bang on a Can summer residency take over Fish Pond for an eclectic musical experience. Parking is free, but visitors should bring chairs or a blanket for their comfort. The series concludes on Aug. 5 with RU Ready. Information: 413-664-6180.

 

Hoops Games

The Neighborhood Summer Basketball League is in its final week. On Thursday, July 29, games will be played at the court behind Berkshire Landing. For more information, call 663-7588 or go to Northern Berkshire Community Coalition.

 

Co-Op Exhibit

Located at 33 Main St., the North Adams Artists Cooperative Gallery will host the monthlong exhibition, "La Mesa" on July 29, beginning with a free opening reception on Thursday, July 30, at 6 p.m. Call 664.4003.

 

Green Babies

How to make your baby's nursery or child's room healthy and "green." The free workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, at Shima Boutique located at 105 Main St. Call 413-346-1055.

 

Solo Exhibit

MCLA Gallery 51 presents a solo exhibition featuring the work of painter Debi Pendell with an opening reception on Thursday, July 30, from 6-8 pm. This and other Fourth Thursday events, is free and open to the public. Gallery 51 is open every day from 10 to 6 p.m. Information: 664-8718.

 

Bard's Evening

Main Street Stage presents Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," previewing on July 30 at 7:30 p.m. The play schedule includes a free performance at Windsor Lake on Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. Information: 413-663-3240.

 

Farm Fresh

The North Adams Farmers Market continues this Saturday with fresh produce. The market operates Saturday mornings from 8 to 12:30 in the city municipal parking lot at the corner of Marshall and Center streets. Backyard farmers are welcome to sell their produce as well. Information: 413-664-6180.

 

Love, Tennis

Northern Berkshire Community Tennis Association Inc. is hosting the annual 18 and under Berkshire Tennis Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. at the MCLA Courts on West Shaft Road. Advance registration is required. Information: 413-663-5380.

 

Rolling Memories

Drill, Baby, Drill!

North Adams Regional Hospital will be conducting a drill on Tuesday, Aug. 4 and is looking for community members who would like to participate and use some of their acting skills. Main Street Stage, in conjunction with Creatively Independent, will be offering two workshops, Monday, Aug. 3, and Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 7 to 10 p.m., focusing on stage combat and physical comedy. Each workshop is $40.

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.
 
Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license. 
 
The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.
 
The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar. 
 
The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant. 
 
Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee. 
 
"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
