Berkshire BPW Awards Career Advancement Scholarships02:37PM / Wednesday, June 17, 2009
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Berkshire Business & Professional (BPW) organization awarded at total of $2500 in Career Advancement scholarships to five workingwomen residing in Berkshire County. Scholarships may be used for tuition, books, child care, uniforms, or other related educational expenses.
The scholarship committee and trustees of Berkshire BPW’s non-profit affiliation, Berkshire County Education Council (BCEC), determine scholarship amounts and the number of scholarships awarded although not more than $500 will be awarded to each recipient.
The scholarship awards were presented at the June 1st dinner meeting. This year $2500 in scholarships were awarded to the following women: Lindsay George of Pittsfield; Katherine Heath of Lee; Brenda McMahon of North Adams; Melissa Prime of Cheshire and Sara Strout of Pittsfield.
Each year proceeds from the annual Women of Achievement dinner are earmarked for the scholarship fund. The 2008-2009 WOA recipient was June Roy-Martin of Pittsfield. Nominations for the 2009-2010 Woman of Achievement will be accepted in the near future. |
