“A Prairie Home Companion” At Tanglewood03:52PM / Thursday, June 11, 2009
LENOX, Mass. - Hollywood icon Martin Sheen and legendary entertainer Steve Martin have joined the lineup for Garrison Keillor’s live broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion at June 27, 2009 at Tanglewood.
Mr. Sheen, who is known for his starring roles in Wall Street, Apocalypse Now as well as TV’s The West Wing, will perform with Garrison Keillor and the rest of the A Prairie Home Companion cast. As part of the broadcast, Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers will perform bluegrass and banjo songs from Martin’s recently released all-music album The Crow: New Songs for the 5-String Banjo.
The live broadcast of the season finale of A Prairie Home Companion has become a Tanglewood tradition since it was first broadcast live from the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s summer home in 1998. The A Prairie Home Companion broadcast is sponsored by General Mills, Inc. and the Ford Motor Company.
Tickets for A Prairie Home Companion range from $19-$70 and are available through Tanglewood’s website, www.tanglewood.org, and through SymphonyCharge at 888-266-1200. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the Tanglewood Box Office at Tanglewood’s Main Gate on West Street in Lenox. American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, Discover, personal checks, and cash are all accepted at the Tanglewood Box Office.
