2008 NECBL All-Star To Anchor SteepleCats Lineup In 2009

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – North Adams SteepleCats announced on Wednesday afternoon that 2008 NECBL All-Star Paul Hoilman will be returning to North Adams to play for the SteepleCats in 2009.
 
Hoilman will be playing for the SteepleCats this summer after a sensational sophomore season at East Tennessee State University in which he was named to the All-Atlantic Sun First Team. For the season the first baseman hit .380 with 55 runs scored, 17 home runs, 66 runs batted in, 148 total bases and 40 walks. He slugged .740 and posted an on-base percentage of .478. He led ETSU in all of those categories. He was also ninth in the Atlantic Sun in batting average, ninth in runs scored, tied for fourth in home runs, tied for second in runs batted in, tied for fourth in total bases and tied for fifth in walks. He was also first in the conference in slugging percentage and fourth in on-base percentage.
 
In the summer of 2008 Hoilman played in 33 games for the SteepleCats and also appeared in the NECBL All-Star Game before suffering a season ending illness. He hit .222 with two home runs, 27 runs batted in and 27 walks. He led the SteepleCats in runs batted in and in walks. He was also a perfect 4-4 in stolen base attempts.
 
As a freshman at ETSU, Hoilman was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team as well as the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team. That year he hit .353 with 18 doubles, nine home runs and 47 runs batted in. He produced 15 multiple hit games as a freshman and at one point put together a team-best 17-game hitting streak.
 
Opening Day is right around the corner. The SteepleCats will open up their season on Friday, June 5, in New Hampshire to take on the Keene Swamp Bats. The SteepleCats play their home opener on Saturday, June 6 against the Danbury Westerners. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field, and the gates will open at 6:00 p.m. For more information on the roster, schedule and other news, please visit www.steeplecats.com.
