Williamstown Savings Bank Alerts Community About Phone Scam
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Williamstown Savings Bank has been made aware of another phone scam in which Northern Berkshire County residents are receiving a call that plays a pre-recorded message claiming it is from the bank. The message reports that the debit or ATM card of the recipient has been deactivated. The person is further instructed to hit the number "1" and then enter his or her account information to reactivate the card.John C. Law, President & Chief Executive Officer, stated, "Our bank would never ask for customer account numbers, Social Security Numbers, or any other confidential information over the phone. Please do not provide any details requested by these calls. This scam is a random act by unscrupulous individuals trying to take advantage of unsuspecting consumers."
