Pittsfield’s Department of Community Development will hold a hearing09:45AM / Friday, April 24, 2009
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The City of Pittsfield’s Department of Community Development will hold a hearing May 7, 2009 on its Community Development Block Grant program and proposed 2010 Consolidated Annual Action Plan. The public hearing will be held in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall at 7:30 p.m.
Held by the City Council’s subcommittee on Community and Economic Development, the hearing is part of a 30-day public review process that is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Through what HUD terms an entitlement grant, HUD provides the City with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding on an annual basis.
The 2010 Annual Action Plan’s proposed $2.04 million budget contains $1.47 million in new CDBG funds. The 30-day public review period began on Monday April 14, 2009 and will end on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. After this comment period, the final 2010 Consolidated Annual Action Plan will be submitted to HUD.
The City’s Department of Community Development has proposed using CDBG money for projects that include public facilities, removal of architectural barriers, public services, debt service payments, code enforcement, housing rehabilitation, economic development, acquisition, disposition, and clearance, administration costs, and planning activities.
Copies of the draft Consolidated Annual Action Plan are available for public review at the City’s Department of Community Development at City Hall. If residents are unable to attend the public hearing, they can submit their comments, written or verbally, to the Pittsfield Department of Community Development, City Hall, 70 Allen Street, Room 205, Pittsfield, MA at (413) 499-9368 or by TTY at (413) 499-9340. Persons with special needs should contact the Pittsfield Department of Community Development prior to the public hearing and every effort will be made to accommodate their requests. |
