NBCC Forum to Focus on International Exchange Students

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition's monthly forum on Friday, March 13, will discuss "Promoting World Peace Through High School Exchange."

Coalition forums are a vehicle to address current issues and are held from 10 to noon at First Baptist Church. The March 13 forum will include local high school exchange students from nations with significant Muslim populations who will talk about their experiences in their native lands.

The attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, raised fears and misunderstanding throughout the nation. The coalition sees this as a time to build new bridges of understanding and to learn from the Muslim exchange students immersed in our community. Participants will be able to find out how to become involved in the YES (Youth Exchange and Study) Program and be part of a movement that forms strong cultural connections.

It will begin, as always, with a round of introductions, followed by brief announcements of attendees upcoming events or new projects. Participants should bring fliers about announcements for the display table in the center of the room. Child care can be available for the meeting by contacting the coalition office before March 10.
