NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — People weren't just celebrating in Washington, D.C. A group of self-proclaimed "Obama lovers" held their own Obama Celebration Walk on Tuesday night.

Ignoring the cold, the group of young adults were making a loop around the downtown area. iBerkshires advertising executive Wanda Haley caught sight of the troop as they marched down Ashland Street.

That was at 8:30; they'd already been walking the streets in their Obama shirts waving Obama signs for two hours, they told her. They posed for pictures at Cumberland Farms.

The frigid air hadn't stifled their good spirits. They waved and cheered as motorists beeped their horns in support and said they were heading toward River Street. Then they marched off into the night.

Their optimism was reflected in our poll of how readers felt about the inauguration and our new president. Only about 16 percent who took the poll felt depressed and bitter; the rest had a far more positive reaction.
