Eileen Barrett Cancer Support Group announces meeting
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The Eileen Barrett Women’s Cancer Support Group will meet Thursday, January 22 and on the third Thursday of each month in 2009. Each meeting will be held in Clark House on the campus of North Adams Regional Hospital from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m.Meeting dates in 2009 are January 22, February 19, March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19 and December 17.
The first hour of each meeting will feature a guided demonstration of a complementary care technique such as yoga, music for stress reduction, reiki and others. A refreshment break with healthy snacks and beverages will precede the second hour of “Conversation for Caring and Sharing.”
The support group is offered to any woman in active treatment for cancer. The group meets in a confidential setting and is facilitated by Maggie Bittman, M.Ed.
“We are very proud to continue serving the women of Berkshire County who are in active treatment for cancer,” said Breast Health Program Manager Polly Macpherson, a certified breast health navigator. “The Breast Health Program at North Adams Regional Hospital is available to help the women with their breast health questions and concerns. Besides the Eileen Barrett Support group, our program includes care navigation and support, information and resources on breast health and referrals to community resources.”

The Breast Health Program at North Adams Regional Hospital serves the women of north Berkshire County. The group is funded by the Eileen Barrett Fund and is supported in part by a grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation Inc. and individual gifts and contributions.
