Snowmobile Use In The City of Pittsfield04:24PM / Friday, January 09, 2009
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The City of Pittsfield would like to remind the community that the use of motorized off-road vehicles, including snowmobiles, is prohibited within city parks, school grounds, conservation lands, and within the Pittsfield watershed lands in Pittsfield, Dalton, and Washington.
Fines for unauthorized use of off-road vehicles within these public areas can be up to $200 per offense, and more if malicious damage occurs. Residents are encouraged to contact the Pittsfield Police Department if they observe off-road vehicles, especially snowmobiles, operating in these areas.
The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation/ Division of State Parks and Recreation provides numerous opportunities for ATV and snowmobiling within the vast western MA holdings. Visit their website - www.state.ma.us/dcr - for a comprehensive listing of sanctioned snowmobiling sites.
