Does anyone know whether the Time reporter and photographer were for the hardcopy of Time magazine or the online version? Editor: It appears to be in both according to the Web site, but I have not seen the paper copy. See the links above.

What's going on with this page? I just tried to read it and there is multiple layers of text making it illegible. Editor: It appears to be an Internet Explorer problem that we thought was fixed. Aargh! Try using Mozilla's Firefox browser. We've haven't had issues with Firefox. Update: I think I fixed it. Hopefully, it will stick.

I could not be more proud to be a Polish Catholic than at this moment. My family has many special memories in the Church and I am only sorry that I can not be there to support the efforts of the brave and faithful people of the Parish. The Parish and the town of Adams are in the prayers of my family. This is not simply about the closing of a Church. It is a about the wrongful and misdirected closing of a Church. Anyone who reads the research can see that.

I found these two letters (in particular) truly summarize the arguments for keeping St. Stan's open. http://www.adamscatholics.org/images/sept2008.pdf http://www.adamscatholics.org/images/nov20th.pdf

Please take a look at this site about the unique stained glass window found at St. Stanislaus Church. The frescoes as well as all the other beautiful artifacts makes this worth keeping. Who would ever be able to appreciate the beauty of so many artists if churches were closed in other parts of the world? We would not be able to see the beauty of the Sistine Chapel if it had been closed. We need to cherish and respect not only our heritage but the sacrifices people made so that the generations to follow would have something to be proud of. Stand up and support the keeping of St. Stanislaus Church open and intact. http://www.christophermarcisz.com/stories/Stories_SovietWindow.html

Even though I'm not Catholic; I stand fully behind this action of trying to keep a beautiful church and community together. Stay Strong!

I went to St. Stans for ten years of my life, preschool to eight grade and i graduated from there. I believe that St. Stans should not be shut down that that is just rediculous. The church and school is wonderful and should stay up for all the parents who are putting their children through there because if the church is closed their wont be any pagents or church ceremonies and st stans just wont be the same. KEEP THE CHURCH OPEN....U CANT CLOSE ST STANS. KEEP FIGHTING EVERYONE IM HERE ALSO FIGHTING!!!

Why don't you people do something constructive like the parishioners of St. Thomas have done instead of whining, disobeying church hierarchy and continuing your crackpot sit-in? When faced with the same dilemma of their church being closed and consolidated, the parishioners of St. Thomas took their lemons and made lemonade by organizing a successful and much needed food and clothing resource for the people who are hurting and out of work. Shame on you St. Stan's [deleted] for conducting this pointless waste of time instead of demonstrating your faith!!!! Editor: Name calling isn't very Christian.

While visiting New England my husband and I visited St. Stanislaus Kostka church and could not believe what an art treasure it is. The beauty of the church is what you would expect to see in Europe. This church should be kept as a treasure for the people who's families have sacrified to create it and for all people to visit and enjoy. What a priceless inspirational church. The beauty of this church takes your breath away.

Hoosac Valley High School is Moving and Shaking
There have been some major shifts within the Hoosac Valley Regional School District recently, all of which have focused on enhancing the student experience to make it a place where ALL students can find their path.
In 2023, Hoosac Valley High School was designated an Innovation Pathway School by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and has since restructured the Program of Studies, utilized creative scheduling, and expanded internship opportunities. Part of this transformation includes participating in a "Portrait of a Graduate" cohort alongside four other Berkshire County schools to determine a collective vision for student success, in partnership with the BARR Foundation.
The Innovation Pathways at HVHS are designed to give students coursework and experience in a specific high-demand industry, such as technology, engineering, healthcare, or life sciences. Currently, Biomedical Science & Healthcare and Environmental Studies have received official state IP designation. In addition to the IP designated pathways, HVHS offers programs in Engineering & Technology, Business & Entrepreneurship, Arts & Entertainment, Education, and Sports Medicine. The result is that students have an opportunity for a transformative experience – enabling them to build essential skills, gain awareness of future career opportunities, and make informed choices about post-secondary education in promising fields.
Principal Colleen Byrd notes, "What makes our program special is that entry into the Pathway of your choice allows a student to access Advanced Placement and dual enrollment college courses, as well as internships in the community to set them up for success after high school."
The Portrait of a Graduate initiative consists of a team of Hoosac educators and students who exemplify the essential skills, practices, and beliefs that define learning experiences across the district. They work to outline the competencies, values, skills, and knowledge that define our vision for student success – keeping in mind that not every student's pathway will look the same. The District's goal is to ensure that all students graduate as responsible people, prepared individuals, lifelong learners, global citizens, critical thinkers, and thoughtful communicators.
Another recent change district-wide in grades K-12 is the "Crew" culture. Teachers and students now have time each day to create positive connections and build authentic relationships with one another. Through Responsive Classroom at the elementary school and Crew at the middle and high schools, students and staff gather for 30 minutes each day to engage in meaningful experiences rooted in mutual and shared interests.
The Crew block is a prioritized structure that allows staff to support all students socially, emotionally, and academically – anchoring them and promoting the Portrait of a Graduate competencies. Crew takes many forms at the high school, such as gardening, bird watching, yoga, and sports talk with visits to college games.
