The Legacy Banks Foundation Supports The Boys’ & Girls’ Club of Pittsfield08:57AM / Monday, December 22, 2008
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Legacy Banks Foundation has once again contributed $10,000 to The Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Pittsfield to support general operating expenses for the 2008/2009 fiscal year.
The Foundation’s Board of Directors approved the grant at its Third Quarter 2008 meeting. According to Richard Sullivan, president of The Legacy Banks Foundation, “We are pleased to be able to continue our strong support of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Pittsfield. The organization serves as a vital resource to the youth of our community by offering affordable activities to over 5,000 members annually as well as many others who utilize their facility on a daily basis. We look forward to the Club continuing their valuable programming for many years to come.”
The Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Pittsfield offers programming for area youth including recreational, sporting and vocational activities as well as summer camp, a children’s center and after-school program.
Peter Bell, executive director of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Pittsfield, expressed his pleasure with Legacy’s support saying, “It is because of the generosity of a very caring community, such as The Legacy Banks Foundation, that the Club is not only able to provide quality programming, but programs that are accessible to all. No child is turned away from participating in any program based on their ability to pay. For the past 108 years the Boys Club/Boys and Girls Club has been able to serve the needs of our area youth and their families, thanks to the kindness of gifts such as this one.”
Established in 2005, The Legacy Banks Foundation continues the philanthropic tradition of Legacy Banks and its associates who have generously contributed their time, talent and treasure for the betterment of the communities in which they have worked and lived for well over a century. The Foundation focuses its support in six major areas - affordable housing, economic development, education, health and human services, civic and community, and arts & culture. |
