Support Group for Teen Mothers03:30PM / Monday, November 17, 2008
Parents as Teachers (PAT) for Young Moms support group will begin its second phase of groups the week of December 1, 2008. The support groups are for young moms who are age 20 and under and who are either pregnant with their first child or have a child ages birth to 3. The groups are free and open to any young mom who would like to attend.
The group meets weekly during the school year in 10 week phases. The PAT group provides a place for young moms to come together to share information and help provide support for the challenges they may face as a young parent. The group is facilitated by facilitators who are former young parents themselves. The PAT group is designed to meet the needs of the young moms who participate and they help decide what topics they would like to discuss. Dinner and child care are provided, as well as transportation for free to those participants who need it.
Two groups are held each week, one in Pittsfield and one in North Adams. The Pittsfield group meets on Tuesday nights at the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church from 5 – 8 p.m. The North Adams group meets on Wednesday nights at the St. John’s Episcopal Church from 5 – 8 p.m.
The PAT group is a program of Child Care of the Berkshires and is funded by the Children’s Trust fund. For more information: call Pittsfield (413) 445-4324; North Adams (413) 664-6104. |
