Eastern Mountain Sports to host local outdoor club day event - October 09, 2008
Join Eastern Mountain Sports at the Berkshire Mall in celebrating the great outdoors! Several, local outdoor clubs will have informational tables set up at EMS for the bi-annual club day event.
These organizations include: Tamarack Hollow & Berkshire Hikers: “Inspiring environmental & cultural awareness, appreciation & stewardship”, Notchview: a property of The Trustees of Reservations “Saving special places for everyone forever”, Cub Scout & Boy Scout Pack 1 from Pittsfield fundraiser event, HikeWithMike “Guided hikes & cultural history programs in the Berkshires-connecting people with special places" and The Williamstown Mountain Film Fest (to be held Nov 7 & 8 - visit www.mountainfilms.org for more info).
Free outdoor skill clinics will be featured including a Basic Map & Compass lesson Friday October 17th at 5:30pm with naturalist educator Aimee Gelinas of Tamarack Hollow Educational Programs (www.tamarackhollow.com) and a Wildlife Photo exhibit and Rare Berkshire Snake Talk by Michael Gromacki (BCC Environmental student and Berkshire rare snake ecologist) on Saturday at 10:30am.
Williamstown Mountain Film Fest will be showing video clips of their upcoming film fest including climbing, kayaking, skiing and BASE jumping films, Cub Scout and Boy Scout Packs 1 will be holding a fundraiser event selling delicious popcorn and Notchview: a property of The Trustees of Reservations will have cross country ski passes offered for donations.
