Search Is on for Phantom Leaves

Print Story | Email Story
NORTH ADAMS — Local leafpeepers should be on the lookout for some unusual leaves — paper ones leading to some great prizes!

The annual Fall Foliage Phantom Leaf Hunt is afoot for the colorful paper leaves that have been hidden throughout the Northern Berkshire area. The Leaf Hunt committee says this year's leaves are well hidden, and suggests those hunting to search each area thoroughly.

The clues below give the answer to the locations of the leaves. When a leaf is found, it must be brought to the Mayor's Office of Tourism at 6 West Main St. to claim the prize (one prize per household). Prizes are generously donated by area merchants.

A second set of clues will be announced in the event of unclaimed leaves.

As always, the leaf committee has included an invisible leaf hunt for homebound residents. Participants in this event are asked to send a postcard with the number of the clue and the answer along with their name, address and phone number, to Phantom Leaf Hunt, Mayor's Office of Tourism, 6 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. Only postcards will be accepted. In the event of a tie, the earliest postmark will determine the winner.

The clues are:

1. Yellow/orange factories

2. The weak wolf

3. Full, not crescent

4. Mother town tower of bucks

5. Benevolence

6. From classrooms to parlors

7. Sesame Street transportation

1. He came to visit crowds galore
number one, he was for sure.
In bronze he stands immortalized,
One hand raised toward the sky.

2. Repaired and refurbished
Though old my boards may be,
I am set upon a field for everyone
To see.

In William's town I can be found
A landmark rarity.

3. Many rooms, but not for rent,
where medicine was the strongest scent
people from all around came,
In hopes they would be rid of their pain.

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

By Tammy DanielsiBerkshires Staff
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.

Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license.

The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.

The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar.

The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant.

Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee.

"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
