Grooove Cafe's 11th Birthday with Live Music at MASS MoCA
NORTH ADAMS - MASS MoCA will host a showcase of up-and-coming local bands in its Club B-10 on Wednesday, August 6, marking Grooove Cafe's 11th year in operation. Armory (http://www.myspace.com/armorymusic), Reason 837 (http://www.myspace.com/reason837), and Between Now and Forever (http://www.myspace.com/betweennowandforever) will fill Club-B10 with their energetic and up-tempo inflections of pop punk and post-hardcore.Reason 837 from Adams, MA, have been hailed as the successors to modern day pop-punk heroes like Blink-182 and Fallout Boy, setting themselves apart because, according to Project 413, "they write better songs than their influences". Meanwhile, Armory from Hinsdale, MA, and BNAF from Bennington, VT, have rapidly earned their own followings via a non-stop schedule of performances and a constant output of new and diverse material. What birthday celebration would be complete without snacks, a raffle, and the traditional candy-filled, skull piñata?
Grooove Cafe, a part of the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition (http://nbccoalition.org/), is a teen-run program devoted to providing substance-free entertainment and highlighting local talent for Berkshire teens on a regular basis. Grooove Cafe's events uphold a policy that requires all performers, crew, and audience members to be substance-free for the duration of the concert. Grooove committee members have collaborated with interns and staff at MASS MoCA to create a fun and safe summer activity for attendees.
Tickets for Grooove Cafe are $6 day of show. Tickets can also be charged by phone by calling 413-662-2111 during Box Office hours or purchased on line at www.massmoca.org.
