Summer Magic Concert At Mahaiwe - July 23, 2008
GREAT BARRINGTON - The Saturday Night Gold Summer Magic Concert will be coming to The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center on Saturday night August 9. The concert features Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group The Platters, Linwood Peel’s Tribute to The Drifters and The Corvettes Doo Wop Revue.
The Platters are considered one of popular music’s greatest vocal groups. The group has sold over 80 million records worldwide and topped the charts with many million selling hits, including Only You, The Great Pretender, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, (You’ve Got The) Magic Touch, Harbor Lights, Twilight Time and My Prayer.
Linwood Peel performed as lead singer of The Drifters for many years. His outstanding vocal group performs their world renown tribute to The Drifters across the globe. The performance includes all of the Drifters great hits including Under The Boardwalk, On Broadway, Save The Last Dance For Me, This Magic Moment, Up On The Roof and many more.
The Corvettes Doo Wop Revue have been described as “a mini version Sha Na Na.” They frequently tour with groups such as The Platters, The Tokens, Danny & The Juniors, The Belmonts, The DelVikings and others. The group performs great hits from the Doo Wop era and recorded a Doo Wop tribute song in 2004 for the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox.
