Berkshire Professional Women Name 2008 Woman of Achievement - July 22, 2008
PITTSFIELD — The Berkshire Business and Professional Women's Woman of Achievement Committee has selected June Roy-Martin as the 2008-2009 Woman of Achievement.
Roy-Martin is the communications, human relations and business development manager at Quality Printing Co. in Pittsfield, where she has worked since 1985. Roy-Martin balances this with her other full-time job of wife and mother of two children and her commitment to community causes.
She is a member of the boards of the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, the Berkshire Visitors Bureau and the Berkshire Compact for Higher Education. She is a steering committee member of the Berkshire Leadership Program, a marketing/events committee member of Downtown Inc., a school council and PTO member at Williams Elementary School and a Berkshire United Way employee campaign manager. She has chaired the Berkshire BPW Scholarship committee for the last three years. She resides in Pittsfield with her husband and two sons.
In addition, Roy-Martin is a member of the Berkshire Management Association, the Human Resource Association of Berkshire County and Women Helping Empower Neighborhoods (WHEN). The Berkshire Business and Professional Women will host a banquet to honor her on Monday Oct. 20, at the Country Club of Pittsfield.
Proceeds from the event allow the Berkshire BPW to award scholarships to working women from Berkshire County for career advancement. This year, the Berkshire BPW was able to award $5,000 in scholarships to working women throughout Berkshire County.
The organization has been recognizing Berkshire women who have contributed to the advancement of women since 1965. Past recent recipients include Christine Singer, Robin MacPherson and Pam Malumphy. The Berkshire Business and Professional Women's mission is to foster the success of working women by providing career advancement resources, work-life strategies and personal and professional connections. |
