BCC to Offer Computer Workshop at HVHS

- July 14, 2008

PITTSFIELD - Berkshire Community College will hold the following computer workshop at Hoosac Valley High School in Cheshire this fall.

“Fundamental Computer Literacy” (CIS 102) is an experimental literacy course using common microcomputer applications. The course covers word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, file management, and Internet/Web search skills using a hands-on approach to problem solving in the computer laboratory. Applying these software packages as decision-making tools to real world problems is emphasized. An online course management system is used to provide instructional support via the Internet. Classes meet Monday evenings, Sept. 8 through Dec. 15, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Unless exempted, all prospective BCC students must complete a skills assessment in reading, writing and mathematics before registering for this course. Assessment results, which have no bearing on a student’s acceptance to BCC, are used for placement purposes only to endure that students are enrolled in courses commensurate with their abilities.

For more information, or to register, call BCC’s South County Center in Great Barrington at 413-528-4521. For long distance, (in Mass only), call 800-816-1233, ext. 5201 or 5202.
