NORTH ADAMS — Tim Boyce pitched six scoreless innings and Cody Stanley went 4-for-5 with four RBI on Saturday as the North Adams SteepleCats dropped the Manchester (Conn.) Silkworms 12-1.

The SteepleCats jumped all over the Silkworms in the top of the first inning. With two runs already on the board and the bases loaded, Jonny Smith endeared himself to the Joe Wolfe Field faithful as on a 3-2 count with two outs, all the runners were breaking from their bases as Smith deposited a single into rightfield, clearing the bases for a 5-0 North Adams lead.

RBI singles from Paul Hoilman and Mike Donato in the second made it 7-0. In the third, North Adams loaded the bases and Cody Stanley cashed in with an RBI single, plating Jonny Smith and Ryan Semeniuk to make it 9-0 SteepleCats.

In the sixth, North Adams struck again as with one out, Stanley tripled to centerfield. Two batters later, Mike Donato walked. Greg Van Horn came up and singled to right, scoring Stanley. The ball was bobbled in right by Joe Cotter allowing Donato to come around from first to score and make it 11-0.

The two teams would trade runs in the bottom of the eighth and top of the ninth for the 12-1 final.

Meanwhile, as North Adams was pounding Manchester's pitching, Tim Boyce (5-1) was mowing down Silkworms hitters, scattering six hits, striking out seven. John Malloy had a first inning single, extending his hitting streak to 13 games. Brian Pendergast (1-5) took the loss for Manchester.

The last game of the homestand is on Sunday as the SteepleCats celebrate Veterans Night at Joe Wolfe Field. Anyone who brings a valid military ID will receive free admission to the game.

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

By Tammy DanielsiBerkshires Staff
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.

Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license.

The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.

The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar.

The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant.

Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee.

"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
