SteepleCats demolish Mountaineers 13-1

North Adams SteepleCats

The North Adams SteepleCats pounded out 17 hits en route to a 13-1 pounding of the Vermont Mountaineers.

The SteepleCats cracked the scoreboard first in the second inning as with one out, Cody Stanley singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. Ryan Delgado lined a single into left to score Stanley for a 1-0 North Adams lead. The ‘Cats loaded the bases later in the inning. Greg Van Horn came up with an RBI single to make it 2-0 North Adams.

The homestanding SteepleCats came through again in the third as with one out, Kevin Carby and Paul Hoilman reached base. Cody Stanley came up and launched a homerun over the rightfield fence for a 5-0 North Adams lead. Not finished there, North Adams would get a run on an infield single by John Malloy later in the frame for a 6-0 advantage. The hit would also extend Malloy’s hitting streak to 11 games.

For the second straight home game, North Adams was just getting started as the SteepleCats scored four more in the fourth and one in the fifth for a 11-0 lead. Two more runs in the seventh made it 13-0 before the Mountaineers scored in the eighth to break the shutout and create the 13-1 final.

North Adams remains home for the next three games. On Friday the SteepleCats will host Lowell on Community Night/History of North Adams Night.
