BCC Pinning Ceremony Recognizes Practical Nurse Graduates - June 26, 2008
PITTSFIELD — Twenty-seven graduates of the Practical Nurse certificate program at Berkshire Community College were recognized June 19 during a pinning ceremony in the Robert Boland Theatre of the college’s Koussevitzky Arts Center.
Ann Tierney, program chairperson, presented the Academic Excellence award to Mary Bruey, and the Clinical Excellence Award to co-recipients Kate Stechmann and Shenell Thomas. Two awards presented earlier in the month at BCC’s annual awards ceremony were also acknowledged: Jaime La Freniere was the recipient of both the Hillcrest Commons/LPN Club Scholarship award, and the Alumni and Friends award.
June Axt, class president, spoke during the ceremony and nursing adjunct faculty member Mary Agoglia delivered remarks on behalf of the faculty.
Agoglia, Mary Jane Pignatelli, Leslie Drager, Josie Fanelli, Beth Fiscella, Sharon Gittzus and Sally Soluri presented pins and certificates to the graduates including:
Josephine Gifty Ampah, June Ann Axt, Diane Azeez, Amy Baumgartner, Michelle Bedard, Kenneth Brelsford, Mary Bruey, Stephanie Carsno, Jessica Ezedi, Amanda Nims Galvagni, Ashely Hessler, Kadiatu Konteh, Mary Kestel, Jaime LaFreniere, Margaret Macha, Georgina Maison, Sampa Musonda, Colleen Newton, Luciene Pereira, Daniel Putignano, James Rankin, Paula Jean Saville, Roy Philip Soucie, Catherine Stechmann, Shenell Thomas, Druk Zom, and Gina Zsido.
Graduates of the 10-month program are eligible to sit for the Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) exam within 10 days of graduation.
