Legacy Banks Appoints Two Branch Managers

Pittsfield – Legacy Banks has welcomed two new Branch Managers according to an announcement by Angela N. Motler, senior vice president of Branch Administration. Rebecca Flood has joined Legacy as manager of the Holmes Road (Lenox) Office, while Tricia R. Storti will oversee operations in the same capacity at the Great Barrington South Office, located at 700 Main Street.

According to Motler, in their new positions, both associates will lead their branch teams to develop customer relationships, grow deposits and ensure continued outstanding service. In commenting on their appointments, Motler said, “These professionals bring with them the skills and experience necessary to service the unique financial needs of the customers in their respective areas. They have both steadily advanced their careers into leadership positions that allow them to fully understand the needs of customers from every perspective. We are pleased to welcome both Rebecca and Tricia to our branch management team.”

Flood comes to Legacy from the Great Barrington office of TD Banknorth where she was a Customer Sales and Service Manager since 2004. Prior to that, she was a Customer Service Representative with Banknorth and a Teller with First Massachusetts Bank. Flood holds a B.A. in business administration from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She resides in Pittsfield.

<L2> Storti began her banking career at Legacy Banks in 2002 as a teller and most recently as the assistant branch manager of the Great Barrington North Office on Stockbridge Road. Prior to joining Legacy, she worked in administrative capacities with Southfield Corporation and New Horizons Learning Center. Storti holds a BS in business administration from Bryant College. She resides in Sheffield.

Former Harry's Supermarket Under Construction for Restaurant

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Construction is underway to transform the former Harry's Supermarket into a restaurant

Late last month, the Conservation Commission greenlit some tree pruning on the property. New windows and a new door can be seen in the front of the building. 

"It's a substantial renovation that's currently underway here," Brent White of White Engineering said, speaking on behalf of the applicant and owner, Huajie Zhu. 

A fire gutted the longtime Wahconah Street supermarket in 2023, and the following year, Zhu purchased the property for $460,000 two years ago to build a restaurant with hibachi in the existing footprint of the more than 100-year-old building. 

White explained that the project has been ongoing for over a year, and the Community Development Board granted the property a waiver to reduce the minimum required number of parking spaces so that additional spaces aren't needed.  

He noted that, looking at the site plan, there is very little room to do so. A mirror will be installed near the sharp turn on Bel Air Avenue to alleviate traffic concerns. 

Pruning will be done on trees in the southeast corner of the existing paved parking lot, as a number of branches are hanging over. The new owners also intend to patch, sealcoat, and re-stripe the parking lot. 

A fire tore through the building less than an hour after the supermarket closed for the day three years ago. An automatic sprinkler system is required for the new use.
