NORTH ADAMS - A small fire was put out in a matter of minutes at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' Flagg Townhouses on Wednesday night.

"It took one squirt and it was out," said one firefighter, after exiting Townhouse 63, which sits directly across from the Amsler Campus Center on Montana Street.

Public Safety Commissioner E. John Morocco said there was no official cause for the fire and no one was in the apartment when the fire alarms for the Townhouse block began sounding.

<L2>Morocco also said the fire was contained to one bedroom bookcase and did not spread.

One of the dorm's occupants said the fire began in a downstairs bedroom.

North Adams Fire Department, North Adams Police Department and the North Adams Ambulance Service responded.
