NORTH ADAMS - Police have arrested one man and are investigating a second suspect in connection with an armed robbery that took place at the Cumberland Farms on Route 2 last weekend. Sgt. William Baker declined to give details of the investigation on Friday night, confirming only that charges had been brought against one of the suspects. The investigation is still active, he said. At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2, two men wearing red scarves to disguise their faces robbed the clerk at the convenience store, getting away with an unspecified amount of cash. One of the men was reportedly brandishing a handgun. The clerk was unable to further identify the individuals or indicate in what direction they were heading, according to police reports. According to the police log, the clerk's boyfriend contacted the police before the clerk reported a crime. The police log did not indicate where the boyfriend was at the time of the call. The clerk was believed to be alone in the store.
