City Prepared for Snow

NORTH ADAMS - With the first big snowfall of the season expected to hit this evening, Mayor John Barrett III said the city is prepared for a blizzard - but he doubts the snow will be a real problem. "This is nothing; we're ready to go. We got some snow on Friday, so we've already got one [storm] under our belts. We're pretty well prepared," the mayor said on Sunday afternoon. Scattered snowfall throughout the county on Sunday left roads icy and slippery and more is expected to fall into Monday afternoon. The storm, which walloped the Midwest on Saturday, will drop 6 to 10 inches of snow on the Northeast over the next two days. A mixture of snow and sleet is predicted and winds are expected to be 15 to 25 miles per hour on Monday morning. Barrett said the city's public works department is completely prepared to handle any storm, no matter the severity. "It's just like any athletic team. If you don't have any injuries, you'll be fine. As long as we don't have any breakdowns, it'll be fine," he said. Barrett said he did not know whether there would be school cancellations. "We don't know how much is going to turn into sleet and it's not expected to pick up until the night. We just have to wait and see," he said.

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

By Tammy DanielsiBerkshires Staff
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.

Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license.

The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.

The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar.

The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant.

Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee.

"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
