Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts will bring the work of more than 40 "virtual friends" of MCLA Gallery 51's MySpace page to the downtown beginning Nov. 29 through Jan. 27, 2008. An opening reception for "The MySpace Show" will be held Thursday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m., in MCLA Gallery 51. The event is free and open to the public. In addition to the physical show, the gallery will coordinate elements of a "virtual show" that will allow those who cannot come to the gallery in person to experience the exhibit online. As part of the virtual show, the gallery will post images of all of the work included in the exhibit to its MySpace page and encourage its friends to comment. The gallery also will take images and video during the opening of the show and post them to the gallery's MySpace profile. Once the physical show is up and running, the gallery will coordinate an online, collaborative art piece made by the artists who are MCLA Gallery 51's friends on MySpace. This art piece should be completed by the New Year and will be on display at MCLA Gallery 51 during January 2008. Gallery manager Sean Riley said participating artists will include those from throughout the world, including Brazil, France, Germany and Portugal. "What I find most interesting about this exhibit is that it is making virtual relationships real," Riley said. "The artists in this exhibition are no longer just our virtual friends," they have become participants and real-life friends of the gallery." MCLA Gallery 51 at 51 Main St. is open daily, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, 413-664-8718, www.mcla.edu/Gallery51 or www.myspace.com/mcla_gallery51 .

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

By Tammy DanielsiBerkshires Staff
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.

Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license.

The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.

The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar.

The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant.

Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee.

"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
