Shirley A. Clukey, 86

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Shirley Agnes Clukey, 86, of Cameron House, Lenox, formerly of Williamstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at her home. Born in North Adams on May 16, 1925, daughter of Arthur and Mildred Carsno Racette, she attended the former St. Joseph's School in North Adams. Mrs. Clukey was employed at the lunch counter at the former JJ Newberry's and by the former Sprague Electric Co., both in North Adams. She also cleaned homes for area residents. She was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams. She enjoyed puzzles, country music, horse and dog racing. Although she never owned any pets, she loved animals and they loved her, where ever she went. Her husband Luke J. Clukey, whom she married Sept. 25, 1966, in Cambridge, died 1984. She leaves a son, Michael J. Shakar of Bennington, Vt.; a daughter : Linda J. Leigh of Dedham; three brothers, John A. Racette and his wife, Theresa, and Donald J. Racette and his wife, Dorothy, all of North Adams, and Robert W. Racette and his wife, Sandra, of Stuart, Fla.; three sisters, Patricia R. Goman of Adams, Jean A. Bessette of Stafford Springs, Conn., and Sandra L. Racette of North Adams; three grandchildren, Robert M. and Amanda J. Shakar, both of Bennington, and Ashley J. Gropman of Dedham; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Nelda Racette, both of North Adams, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Her brothers Arthur J. "Flash" Racette Jr. and Richard A. Racette predeceased her. FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services for Mrs. Clukey will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 26, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, by her sister-in-law Pastor Sandra J. Racette. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 10 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home.
