Jean E. Massari, 80

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Jean E. Massari, 80, of 40 Summer St. and formerly of 372 Tunnel St., Readsboro, Vt., died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at North Adams Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born in Readsboro on Dec. 22, 1930, daughter of Russell S. and Kathleen Davis Hubley, she attended schools in Monroe Bridge and graduated from Drury High School in 1948. Primarily a homemaker and mother to six sons, Mrs. Massari worked at GS Precision in Wilmington for 15 years until her retirement in 1995. She was a communicant of St. Joachim's Church, where she taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and was a member of its St. Ann Society. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and flower gardening. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Her husband, Silvano C. Massari, who she married on Sept. 16, 1950, died on July 27, 2010. She leaves five sons, Wayne Massari and his wife, Pamela, of Rutland, Vt., Peter Massari and his wife, Lorrie, of Brattleboro, Vt., Aaron Massari and Paul Massari and his companion, Sue Shepard, of North Adams, and Joni Massari, and his wife, Linda, of Hoosac Tunnel; a brother, Russell S. Hubley Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Longmeadow; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Sandra Massari of Whitingham, Vt., and nieces and nephews. Her son Michael Massari and siblings Dorothy Raycroft, Barbara Sprague, Marjorie Creek and Roy Hubley predeceased her. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Massari will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 27, at 11 at St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Ann's Society at St. Joachim's Church in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247. The family would like to thank the second-floor nursing staff at Williamstown Commons, where Mrs. Massari had recently resided and a special thank you to Dr. Marian Madden and the staff at the North Adams Hospital CCU. The family also wishes to thank Pastor Eugene Kemp for his spiritual guidance.
