Florence E. Courtot, 90
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Florence Eva Courtot, 90, of 92 Richview Ave. died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at North Adams Commons.
Born in North Adams on Feb. 25, 1920, daughter of Herbert and Eva Chalifoux Blake, she attended North Adams schools.
Mrs. Courtot was employed at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates and the Gale Shoe Co. She was last employed at North Adams Regional Hospital in the pediatrics department.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and an active with the VFW Post 996 Ladies' Auxiliary and Disabled American Veterans. She was an excellent piano player and gave lessons. She was also a member of the band The Diamonds.
Her husband, Donald Edward Courtot, whom she married on Aug. 5, 1938, died on June 1, 2004.
She leaves her son, Charles H. Courtot of Pinellas Park, Fla.; a daughter, Joanne Courtot of North Adams; four sisters, Lena Nolli of Pittsfield and Doris Haley, Judith Columbus and Carol Harris, all of Pownal, Vt.; a brother, Herbert E. Blake Jr. of North Adams; four grandchildren, Donald J. Courtot, Gregory Courtot, Alexandra Courtot and Antonio DeGrenier, nine great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Another son, Donald Courtot Jr., died in 1965. She was also predeceased her grandson Steven DeGrenier and her siblings Anna Cook, Shirley Jones, Celia Blake, Eva Pratt and Donald Blake.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A memorial service for Mrs. Courtot will be celebrated Thursday, Nov. 4, at 10 at St. John's Episcopal Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
