Paula A. Geary, 55
STEPHENTOWN, N.Y. — Paula Ann Geary, 55, of 231 Knapps Road died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Springside Nursing Home in Pittsfield, Mass., after a long illness.
Born in North Adams, Mass., on June 16, 1954, daughter of Edward D. Foote Jr. and Claire Roberts Foote, she attended schools there and was a 1972 graduate of Drury High School. She also completed the dental assistant program at McCann Technical School in North Adams.
Ms. Geary worked for a number of years for the former General Electric in Pittsfield and was a dental assistant in the office of Dr. Mark Ellicson. She later successfully ran her own cleaning business.
She was known as a fun-loving person who enjoyed skiing, travelling and reading, and was a fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. She will be especially missed by her three beautiful grandchildren.
Her first husband, Michael Ferris, is deceased.
She leaves her longtime partner, Scott Atwell; two sons, Peter Ferris and his wife, Melissa, of Orlando, Fla., and Jared Geary and his wife, Hazel, of Baltimore; her grandchildren Katie Ferris, Abigail Ferris and Lucas Geary; her former husband, James Geary, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
She also was predeceased by her brother, the recently honored Peter W. Foote, who was killed in Vietnam.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Ms. Geary will be Thursday, June 17, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 16, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peter W. Foote Scholarship in care of the funeral home.
