Esther Poplaski, 91
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Esther Poplaski, 91, of 22 School St. died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at home surrounded by family and friends
Born in North Adams on Feb. 17, 1919, a daughter of Pasquale and Costanza Astorino Mazza, she attended schools in North Adams.
Mrs. Poplaski was employed for more than 36 years at the former Sprague Electric Co.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and a member of the Sprague Electric Quarter Century Club. She enjoyed traveling and baking, but most of her life was focused on spending time with her loving family and very close friends.
Her husband, Edward "Pop" Poplaski, whom she married Nov. 22, 1941, died June 23, 1987.
She leaves her daughter, Judith Poirot and her husband, Charles, of the town of Florida; a son, Edward A. Poplaski and his wife, Jeannie, of North Adams; five grandchildren, Erin Poplaski, Jeffrey Poplaski and Mallory Poplaski, all of North Adams and Charles "Chip" Poirot and Edward Poirot, both of Florida; a great-grandson, Kevin Poirot of Adams, a sister-in-law, Aileen Mazza of North Adams, and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by six brother, Angelo, Joseph, Pasquale, Peter, Russell and Frank Mazza, and three sisters, Mary Severino, Christine Lincoln and Genevieve Murach.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Poplaski will take place Wdenesday, May 26, at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 25, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire or to St. Elizabeth's Church through the funeral home.
