Henry D. Manners, 79
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Henry David "Dave" Manners, 79, of 99 Longview Terrace died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at home.
Born in New York City on Jan. 22, 1931, son of David G. and Ida M. Karhunan Manners, he graduated from Montclair (N.J.) High School in 1949 and from the University of Vermont in 1953 with a bachelor of science degree in agricultural economics.
An Army veteran, he served during the Korean War serving as a first lieutenant and was stationed for a time in Iceland.
Mr. Manners had a long career with Agway, first as manager for its stores in North Adams and Pittsfield for 25 years and lastly as a New England sales representative. At the time of his death, he was a self-employed salesman.
He was an active member of First Congregational Church of North Adams, where he was head usher and a member of the search committee. He was a past president of the Williamstown Lions Club and an avid sports fan and gardener.
He leaves his wife, the former Joan Underwood, whom he married June 20, 1953; a son, David A. Manners of New Ashford; three daughters, Deborah Savage of South Dartmouth, Donna Brundage of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., and Deanne Isherwood of Holden, Maine; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services will take place Saturday, Feb. 13, at 1 p.m. at First Congregational Church of North Adams.
