Jessica E. Bolognani, 18

READSBORO, Vt. - Jessica Elise Bolognani, 18, of 3420 West Hill Drive died Saturday Jan. 2, 2010, as a result of a snowmobile accident in Heartwellville. Born in Bennington on July 11, 1991, daughter of Tim and Deborah Filler Bolognani of Readsboro, she graduated with highest honors from Twin Valley High School in Wilmington in June 2009 and had received many academic and athletic awards and took part in many school and community activities. She had just completed her first semester, earning dean's list, at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn. She was studying to be a nurse. Ms. Bolognani was an incredibly active and outgoing person. Outdoorswoman, she enjoyed hunting, softball, snowmobiling and basketball. She was a leader and mentor among her friends, serving as captain of her high school soccer, basketball and softball teams. She served on the Student Council and was president her junior and senior years. She was her freshman class secretary, sophomore class president and senior class vice president. She attended St. Joachim's Church and was a member of the TVHS Leadership Club and the Mentoring Program and worked with the Windham County Big Brother/Big Sister. She also was a Big Sister at Quinnipiac. Her organizational skills made her the special person she was and she was an inspiration to her friends and family. Ms. Bolognani was at the front of many community and fund-raising activities like the Relay for Life, Red Cross blood drives and 4-H pumpkin-carving contests. She was on the Prom Committee, the FRESH TVHS Summer Advisory Council, and the Page to Stage Program. She played AAU basketball and softball and was a starter on the All-State Girls Basketball Team. She also took part in Leadership Conferences at Castleton State College, the University of Vermont and St. Michael’s College. Besides her parents, she leaves her brother, Stephen J. Bolognani, at home; her paternal grandmother, former state Rep. Betty M. Bolognani of Readsboro; her maternal grandparents, Gail Filler and David Donley of West Dover, Vt., and aunts, uncles, cousins and a large extended circle of family and friends. FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Ms. Bolognani will be celebrated Saturday Jan. 9 at 11 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 70 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass. A reception will follow at St. Joachim's Church Hall in Readsboro. Burial will be private at a later date. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stephen Bolognani Education Fund in care of the funeral home.
