Mary Ann Shand, 76

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Mary Ann Shand, 76, of 94 Meadow St. died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at home. Born in Union City, N.J., on Aug. 13, 1933, daughter of James and Celia Floriani Oliveri, she attended North Adams schools, including Drury High School. Mrs. Shand was employed by the former Kmart store in North Adams until her retirement in 1990. She also had worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. and the former Zayre's Department Store. She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church. She enjoyed bingo and shopping. She was devoted to her family and friends. She and her husband, Richard H. Shand Sr., were married in 1954. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Maureen Scott and her husband, Michael, of North Adams; a son, Richard H. Shand Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Williamstown; two sisters, Rose Chavarry of Dalton and Virginia Oliveri of Foster City, Calif., three grandchildren, Michael N. Scott, Allison Shand and Christopher Shand, and nieces and nephews. Another son, Michael Shand, died in infancy. She also was predeceased by her siblings Gloria Jagiello, Joseph and Vincent Oliveri. FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mrs. Shand will be Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagan Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 11 at the funeral home.
